Firewall Issues
There may be several reasons for your download difficulties. Please check your system and disable any of the following:

Firewall - These are designed to block downloads from sites that you have not added to your approved site list and may be interfering with the download process. If you’ve received an error stating that you are unable to connect to our server, please check your system for active firewalls.

To disable your firewall
Find your situation from this list, and follow the instructions:

  • If your computer uses Windows XP, the Windows firewall may be turned on. To learn how to disable the Windows firewall, read How to disable the Windows XP firewall. After reading this document and making necessary adjustments, go to "To download your program, please follow these steps" at the bottom of this page.
  • If you have Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall, read How to disable your Norton Internet Security, then go to "To download your program, please follow these steps" at the bottom of this page.
  • If your computer uses another firewall, read the documents for your product for information on shutting off the firewall. When complete, go to "To download your program, please follow these steps" at the bottom of this page.
  • If your computer does not use a firewall, go to "Popup Blockers” in the “Other possible errors” section of this document.
Browswer Information
Ensure that you are using the most up to date version of your browser.
Ensure that you are current on all Windows Updates. From the Start menu, click on Windows Update, and download recommended updates and patches, then restart the computer.

For Internet Explorer (recommended)

For Netscape Navigator

Not all browsers are fully compatible with all servers. If you are using AOL's built in browser, we recommend using Internet Explorer or Netscape instead. For more information on these alternate browsers or to update your browser visit:

Other Possible Errors
If you receive "Error occurred communicating with server . . . " when downloading a program from the Symantec Store, click here.

If you receive "Message 59", the allotted time to download your product has expired.

Download Monitors - Programs such as GoZilla! and NetZip are not compatible with our server and will sometimes block or stop downloads. If your computer uses a download monitor, read the product documents for instructions on how to disable it.

Screen Savers - In some instances, screen savers can interfere with the download process. If you have a screen saver that may start while you are downloading, disable it temporarily until your download is complete.

Virus Infection - Download or Installation of a Symantec product should not be done on a system infected with a virus. If your system is presently infected by a virus you can download a virus removal tool from Symantec's Antivirus Research Center located at: http://www.sarc.com

Popup Blockers

If your computer uses ad blocking, read the product documents for instructions on how to disable it.

For Windows XP Users: To temporarily disable your pop up blocker, go to the "Internet Options" menu in the "Tools" drop down menu in Internet Explorer. Select "Pop Up Blocker". Select "Turn Off Pop Up Blocker". Then go to "To download your program, please follow these steps"

Download Instructions
To download your program, please follow these steps:

1. Go to http://www.symantecstore.com/orderlookup

2. Enter your order number and password

3. Click FIND

4. Click DOWNLOAD

If you successfully download the Symantec program, then enable your firewall.

If you are still unable to receive the download you may try the following:

1) When you are at your order detail page, place the cursor over the 'http download' button, then right-click and select "Save Target/Link As"

or

2) When you are at your order detail page, place the cursor over the 'http download' button, then right-click and select "Open in new window"
